Architectural Geometric Hooked and Painted Art
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Lori is known for her contemporary designs employing hooked techniques. Her focus on architectural and geometric work is influenced by travels throughout the U.S., Germany, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, New Zealand, England and Canada.
A B.A. in Psychology and Art History was earned from Trinity College. A volunteer program in Art Therapy working with autistic children followed along with certificates in Small Business and Graphic Design.
Soon after a move to North Carolina in 1993, she learned to make hooked rugs and made the decision to create wall art with the same technique.
She joined the North Carolina Arts Incubator as a resident artist working on jury, sales and work committees. The chance to have a studio and be surrounded by other artists furthered her pursuit of art.
Lori’s work has received multiple Best of Show, First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention awards. She has shown her work in juried shows on the national level and in both juried and non-juried shows on the local level. Exhibits include juried shows at the Huntsville Museum of Art, Susquehanna Art Museum, Geometric/Madi Museum, American Craft Council’s 2006 Spotlight show at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, the Handweaver's Guild of America's Small Expression show, Wayne State University’s “Back to the Floor”, Morehead State University’s “A Fine Line”, the Lee Hansley Gallery’s “The Triangle’s Best Art” show in Raleigh, NC, Artspace’s “Fine Craft Show” in Raleigh NC as well as other venues. Her work has been photographed for “Shuttle, Spindle, and Dyepot”, “Rug Hooking” and “Fiber Art Now” magazines. She has written for Rug Hooking Magazine.
Currently working out of her home studio in the mountains of North Carolina, Lori creates pieces for galleries and exhibitions. Works are available for purchase through galleries and studio. Her art is in private collections in the U.S, Canada, England, and Germany.
